Description Shawn Starr 2016-05-22 18:33:18 UTC
I am currently using kernel module AMDGPU with CIK enabled:

Attached is Xorg.log

- Mesa is git master from 2016-05-20
- LLVM 3.9 trunk is from same date
- Kernel compiled is 4.7.0-0.rc0.git2.3.fc23.x86_64 (Fedora) w/ AMDGPU CIK enabled

When using VLC, if it attempts to use VDPAU it shows nothing, if I close VLC it crashes X, I can ssh into system however.

I am also using the latest AMDGPU DDX from git

Did this work with older snapshots of the components?

Please attach the dmesg output captured after the problem occurred.

What does "crashes X" mean exactly? There's no trace of any problem in the attached Xorg log.

This would have worked with radeon.ko CIK, I can double check this however using same kernel, mesa/LLVM build I have currently.

There is no kernel dmesg output showing anything failed, X just locks up, cannot VT switch, mouse can move but cannot interact with the display.

I can ssh into system when this happens.

This appears fixed with latest mesa git master and agd5f's drm-next-wip-4.8 branch, either way, vlc is not hanging anymore, nor libreoffice.

With that, closing this bug.
