Description Ryan McKay 2016-06-16 15:02:22 UTC
Good morning,
Finding some X11 remote display issues happening with X11 on preview MacOS (if you're a Mac person you'll know which one).
Think some people way smarter and better at this than me need to start looking at it.

XQuartz 2.7.9 (xorg-server 1.17.4)

Ssh to a remote server and trying to display X11 apps on my Mac results in:

I.e.
ssh -XY login@remote
gedit

/private/tmp/com.apple.launchd.9X5ay6JWmT/org.macosforge.xquartz: unknown host. (nodename nor servname provided, or not known)

(gedit:7874): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: localhost:10.0

Tried re-installing Xquartz several times.

Please read your NDA and file bugs about developer betas at http://bugreport.apple.com.

This is a known regression in ssh, so no need to file.

NDA: I did (both points).
Thought XQuartz might want a heads-up and knowledgable people could start taking a look at it.
I'll know better next time.

Yes, you should only file bug reports related to the developer previews at http://bugreport.apple.com.

Ps thought you'd like to know:
From apple
"For Seed builds, please do NOT use BugReporter, Submit report to Apple (when you have a crash), or the "Submit feedback to Apple or Submit a bug to Apple" found in the menu in Apple applications."
I've done so.
You mentioned that this is a known regression? Is there a link I can follow to read up?

No, I'm letting you know that someone already filed a radar about this issue to save you time from filing one on your own.

Please use http://bugreport.apple.com for all issues you have with seed builds.

If you've already filed a radar, please comment in it that it is a dupe of <rdar://problem/26775839> or point me to it, so I can do so. Thanks.
