Sometimes, when I get out of fullscreen from vlc, or youtube on chrome browser, screen freezes for about 10 seconds(mouse pointer not moving, nor keyboard working, none at all) and it comes back. Unfortunately, 1 out of 5, the whole system doesn't come back. I mean, frozen for good. I can't even change to text mode (ctrl+alt+F1). The only way is to cold reboot. (ctrl+alt+del nor anything else work)

I don't know for sure how to reproduce the bug exactly, but it seems that the longer I stay as fullscreen on video playing program, the more likely the bug occurs.

Note: I don't know what Version I should select so I left it unspecified. And basic information I think that matters are below:

I checked the suggested 'possibly duplicate issues' as I filled in the summary of the issue, but none had helped so much. Only one possible solution that struck me was to upgrade to higher version of Ubuntu. Would it help? Any direct/indirect causes/solutions will be thankful!

3.17 for the hsw RCS flip fixes iirc.

Thank you for your reply so fast :)
But would you please explain what 'hsw RCS flip' is?
And by 3.17 you mean linux kernel version? If so, I better upgrade to upper level of ubuntu for resolving this issue, you think?
