Description Mikael Djurfeldt 2016-09-22 21:58:39 UTC
I run pulseaudio 9.0 and bluez 5.36 on a Debian stretch system.

When having the following device successfully connected:

Device 00:0D:44:AE:7A:2A
	Name: H800 Logitech Headset
	Alias: H800 Logitech Headset
	Class: 0x240404
	Icon: audio-card
	Paired: yes
	Trusted: yes
	Blocked: no
	Connected: yes
	LegacyPairing: no
	UUID: Audio Sink (0000110b-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)
UUID: A/V Remote Control Target (0000110c-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)
	UUID: Advanced Audio Distribu.. (0000110d-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)
	UUID: A/V Remote Control (0000110e-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)
	UUID: Handsfree (0000111e-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb)

pavucontrol *does* detect the headset in the Output devices tab but not in the Input devices tab. I guess "Handsfree" is the HFP profile. I've seen elsewhere that this profile is not supported by pulseaudio. People say that ofono should be used, but isn't ofono just for letting the computer itself be an HFP device?

Is it that headsets with an HFP (Handsfree) profile but no HSP (Headset) profile are currently not supported by pulseaudio?

Is there anything to be done?

Yes, that's correct.

As a user? No, you can't do anything.

I expect PulseAudio to get HFP support in the not-too-distant future, though. It won't be in version 10.0, but I would guess that 11.0 will have it. There are already patches that add HFP support, but they need some more work before they'll be merged.

Thanks.

This is the patch by James Bottomley?

Best regards,
Mikael
