Under Preferences Output there are choices for: from display, 256 color, thousands or millions. Millions 24bit and 256 color work fine but thousands 16bit color still outputs at 24bit color it does not switch to 16bit after restarting. All of the programs we run use 16bit color so they are not functioning.
That preference UI should just be removed.

Why would you want to or need to?
Created attachment 127241 [details] attachment-11283-0.html Less colors is a lot faster, especially when working remotely through SSH with a forwarded X window. Since there is less data being sent you can sacrifice some unneeded color and use a larger window which is more beneficial for the work our company does.
