Description of problem:
The system does not boot (black screen, hear the noise of the cooler, the hard drive is not working according to the sound). After grub, the screen will go blank right before the entire system freezes.

Kernel version and distribution
4.4 and above - any distributions.
Ubuntu 16.04.1 and Linux Mint 18 are loaded only in Legacy BIOS mode to UEFI boot mode are not loaded.

How reproducible:
loading any distribution in Live USB mode when a new distribution (Manjaro 16.06 / 16.08 for example, or Fedora 24 or openSUSE tumbleweed)

Either attempt to loading a set of official repositories kernel 4.4 and later on Ubuntu 14.04, Debian 8.6 and other.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot system
2. System will crash on boot

Actual results:
Crashed system, no interaction possible, blank screen.

Expected results:
Normal boot of system.

What hardware? Exactly what was the latest kernel you tried? Does it boot with i915.modeset=0 passed on the kernel command line? If so can you paste the dmesg? Can you log in remotely and grab the dmesg when broken?

I tried to install the core 4.8 of the official Debian repositories.

The LiveUSB mode system loaded almost completely, but the flashing cursor appears in the console after loading. No commands can not be entered. When you press Alt + Strl + Share system reboots normally.
This I tried on Manjaro 16.08 example.

If you try to install the new kernel in the old system, it will be possible, however, all new distributions do not provide even a boot to the desktop.
The laptop I used for important things, so I hardly can experiment with reinstalling the OS. But I'll do it if you tell me that you have a file dmesg important for solving my problem.

I had a similar issue on my dell. It ended up not being an issue with the DRM intel drivers but with the BIOS in that machine. I had to turn "Load Legacy ROM" option OFF. Once I did that, never had an issue since.
