Created attachment 127353 [details] dmesg Hi. I'm running skylake, just built the newest kernel 4.8.2. After a while on standby, the screen dropped into a tty, where I couldn't do anything but reboot as the screen hang. xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-24.20160712.fc24.x86_64 mesa-dri-drivers-12.0.3-1.fc24.x86_64 kernel-4.8.2 I attached the dmesg of the hang. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thank you.
Norbert, can you attached gpu crash dump located at /sys/class/drm/card0/error
Hi yann, it reads: no error state collected But that's after the reboot, of course.
(In reply to Norbert Varzariu from comment #2) > Hi yann, > > it reads: > no error state collected > > But that's after the reboot, of course. Does it mean that it occurs only once and now it is not occurring anymore?
I don't know, I just built the kernel today. I will let you know if it happens again.
OK, so what I found is: no hangs, but frequent [68176.532833] [drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe B FIFO underrun errors in my syslog. Usually this leads to the screen being blacked out for a split second, before it is redrawn. The system itself is rather stable, I didn't have a hang up anymore, the error state is clean also. Only these occasional blackouts.
Please test with latest kernel (drm-tip) and report back.
Hi Jani, last time I had any errors was on 4.8.6. Sorry for not reporting back timelier. I'm on 4.8.12 now, and my syslog is clean. No errors whatsoever, I haven't noticed any glitches either. So I guess, this can be closed for now? Good work guys, thank you very much. Regards
