Description Jacqueline McCleary 2016-11-28 04:12:34 UTC
Hello,

I have a late 2016 MacBook Pro with OSX Sierra installed and the latest stable XQuartz. On the last laptop I had, a 2012 MacBook Pro with OSX Yosemite and the same version of Xquartz, when I entered e.g.

$emacs junk.foo

a new window would load up. This also held true during SSH sessions. Now, however, no matter what ~/.ssh/config or in /etc/sshd_config settings I change, no window ever loads up. Now, I have to open an Xquartz terminal, which aren't as nice as the native Mac terminal environment.

Is this a new bug, or am I being dumb?

Thanks either way for your help,
Jacqueline

Bugzilla is not a support forum. Please ask for help on the x11-users mailing list. This is also discussed in the FAQ:

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I actually pored over all the online support I could find, including the FAQ you linked to. Changing those settings did nothing for me. The only reason I thought it might be a bug is the spanking new hardware/software. I'll try the support forum instead!

Hey,
I got the similar issue.

With the new MacOS, 10.12.5 (16F73), and the updated Xquartz, 2.7.11, X11 application from Linux can not work via ssh session.
Previously, I found, with Xquartz 2.7.8 and MacOS EI, everything works fine, but also fails with any other Xquartz versions.

I always use ssh -X -Y remote-linux-server,
then use X11 applications, such as molden, adfinput, but now, nothing works. I have asked Apple support for help, but I was told it was a third part application issue.
