Description James 2016-12-17 16:17:14 UTC
Please see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98158

The sis driver fails with "SiSMapMem() failed", but this appears to be caused by an incompatibility between libpciaccess pci_device_map_range() and newer linux kernels after 4.4.
Comment 1 James 2017-04-04 20:40:37 UTC
Problem is triggered by:

 https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=90a545e981267e917b9d698ce07affd69787db87

which suggests:
Any application using /dev/mem or mmap of
sysfs pci resources will now need to perform the extra step of either:
1/ Disabling the driver, for example:
   echo <device id> > /dev/bus/<parent bus>/drivers/<driver name>/unbind
...
