Description werner.lamping@freenet.de 2017-01-05 15:43:30 UTC
hello ,
search for strings in Postbank monthly bank statements document does not work properly. To open the document is fine and looks OK . But when I search for a string which is obviously there OKULAR does not find it . This problem does not occur with Adobe Reader under Windows. EVINCE seemed to be the same problem and
was already discussed in a Ubuntu forum ( see link below) there you can also find addition information . I have send already a bug report to OKULAR . But since EVINCE has the same problem it might a common problem on poppler level.
many thanks BR /werner

Are you searching for a particular text? Do certain searches work and not others? Does running "pdftotext" on your file show the results you expect? Have you yourself tried this with evince or do you just assume evince has the same problem? What version of poppler are you using? It's possible that it's already fixed in a newer version of poppler.

If you are able, please attach the document or if you prefer, email the document to me. It's difficult to know what is wrong without the PDF. If it makes you more comfortable to know something about me -- I am not the poppler maintainer; I am just some guy who has managed to get his name in the poppler git log, but I have been trusted with medical and financial data at my day job and I haven't stolen anything yet. My PGP key is at http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0xBDBC45EFBA1BEE24.

If there's no document, there's no bug.

The document you sent me by private email is an image of text, so yes, obviously no text is found on it.
