Summary: I can not reproduce but error happens nearly every 2h (also when writing this report and drops all input :-( This problem began since the updates from the last week i think dmesg error: [26812.951900] [drm] GPU HANG: ecode 9:0:0x85dffffb, in Xorg [23908], reason: Hang on render ring, action: reset [26812.951902] [drm] GPU hangs can indicate a bug anywhere in the entire gfx stack, including userspace. Hi thx for the view/comment. Also some additional comments and hints: - my cpu (dell xps 13/15) has problems with resolution when using dell adapter DA200. with my mentioned thunderbold 3 1024p resulution works. - My last debian updates are about 6-8 week ago, now, after updates i get crashes. During xmas time haven't update anything. - craches are not always reported in dmesg or syslog like delivered already. This i could figure out (a downgrade of atspi did not solve it): -->-- Jan 17 21:01:12 xps13fb org.a11y.atspi.Registry[2894]: XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0" Jan 17 21:01:12 xps13fb org.a11y.atspi.Registry[2894]: after 1433 requests (1433 known processed) with 0 events remaining. Jan 17 21:01:12 xps13fb org.a11y.atspi.Registry[8457]: XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0" Jan 17 21:01:12 xps13fb org.a11y.atspi.Registry[8457]: after 1451 requests (1451 known processed) with 0 events remaining. --<-- - This requested xorg.log: Please see attached tgz file
Hi Another hint: When booting with kernel # -- kernel version: ("uname -r"). 4.8.0-1-686-pae This problem seems to be gone. But not updating the kernel is not really what i need. This is too much in detail for me. Kind regards Florian
Hi does it make sence to report further informations? The crash happans with kernels > 4.8.0-1-686-pae With current 4.9.0-1-686-pae i found a reproduceable behavior: 1. Starting netbeans (java source code editor), 2. Open a huge project 3. Switching through some tabs of opend files and then 4. using the mouse to jump up and down in a large document (netbeas as playstation :-)) After a few second X crashes with the syslog report (see below) Interesting: I could hear disk io when jumping up and down in netbeans (set sound off befor). Mar 1 16:24:44 localhost org.a11y.atspi.Registry[12237]: XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0" Mar 1 16:24:44 localhost org.a11y.atspi.Registry[12237]: after 81 requests (81 known processed) with 0 events remaining. Mar 1 16:24:44 localhost org.a11y.atspi.Registry[2072]: XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0" Mar 1 16:24:44 localhost org.a11y.atspi.Registry[2072]: after 79 requests (79 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
No problems in debian kernel 4.9.0-2-686-pae anymore. thx. :-)
