Description ian.frost 2017-01-26 11:57:34 UTC
I rotate my 2nd monitor either in the cinnamon display preferences or using xrandr and after a random period of time it crashes out to the login screen.

I tried using modesetting as the driver and It doesnt crash anymore but I have massive amounts of tearing while scrolling so obviously I want to go back to using Intel as the driver, can you help fix it please?

If you can attach the Xorg.log from when it crashes and check /var/log/mdm/ for any additional logs.

Xorg.0.log

There is a old log, I guess from before the crash do you want to see that one aswell?

Comment 4 ian.frost 2017-01-26 13:24:25 UTC
sorry the initial log after changing driver back to intel has gone after second crash!
Comment 5 Chris Wilson 2017-01-26 13:27:44 UTC
Hmm. The "log after initial crash" was truncated. Did the system reboot? Can you try and grab whatever logs you can for a crash (look at the tail for something dire) and also grab the dmesg after a crash?

It doesnt reboot just goes to the log-in screen
Comment 7 Chris Wilson 2017-01-26 14:09:24 UTC
Ah, it is the input locking bugs in Xorg-1.19.
Comment 8 ian.frost 2017-01-26 14:30:32 UTC
Great thanks, is there a fix?
Or do I just go back to previous version?
Comment 9 Chris Wilson 2017-01-26 14:38:06 UTC
I'm up to 3 patches for X in bug 99358 - so far looks like that may have caught it.
Comment 10 ian.frost 2017-01-26 16:30:47 UTC
Thanks Chris - I have never done this before, is there some instructions on how to get these patches.

I had a look for your name in the maintainers list but did see it?

Not sure what to do next:-)

Patches has been merged into Xorg. Let's assume that was everything...
