the 'returning pre-existing fd' is what keeps further plugged in devices from working

spoke to whot and he asked to get the udev information, and if the input devices were being removed

have access to this particular webcam during parts of the week

thanks

please attach log files instead of inlining them. makes it easier to look at them without forced linebreaks.

iirc the conversation the issue here is that we don't get a 'remove' event from udev, probably because of the kernel oops. This should be logged in the xorg log, if it's missing then this is the cause of the issue and the solution is to fix the kernel not to crash :)

log file to not trash line breaks

eek sorry, as i don't have the original logs (i can collect more next week) i just stuck the logs i posted into a file, it reads fine now
Comment 3 Peter Hutterer 2017-02-12 23:36:50 UTC
yeah, log confirms it, we never get the removed event from udev. Most likely because of the crash in the kernel. That's not something we'll fix in the server though, we have to rely on those layers working correctly. So all I can do here is punt it to the kernel, sorry.
