drawing with object that can't be flipped
Sample Document, see Comment 1 test sheet with example flips and screengrab of greyed out menu |
Have confirmed same behaviour under windows and Linux, and that removing the text fields allows the object to be flipped. [Reproducible] with "LibreOffice 3.3.2 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:202 / tag 3.3.2.2)]" The problem is that text boxes can not be flipped, and that restriction also prevents from flipping grouped objects with text boxes. I can't understand the restriction, because it's possible to flip shapes and drawing elements with text (inserted after double click), pls. see attached "FunnySample.odg" Corresponding OOo Bug: Bug 102502 - Ability to flip texboxes <http://openoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=102502> Created attachment 45142 [details] Sample Document, see Comment 1 @Rainer Bielefeld
>I can't understand the restriction
Agreed. Other graphics editors, like Serif draw plus, can manage to do it: there is sometimes a bit of tidying to do, but in most cases they make a pretty good guess.
Inkscape does it, but reverses the text direction which may or may not be the desired result.

Created attachment 45132 [details] drawing with object that can't be flipped This is queer. On Sheet 1, bottom left, I drew a battery. I then copied it, moved it up, and flipped it. I copied the two of them, moved that up and had four. I grouped the four. I then decided to add + and - text, and so ungrouped, deleted 3, and that left the original one. I added + and - text, and grouped that with the original, then tried the copy-and-flip trick again. The new version cannot be flipped. The flip menu is greyed out. This is not what I would expect.
