When starting X.Org on my Toshiba Portege 3500 using AccelMethod "EXA" X locks. Only Pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del does reboot. No other Keys/Key Combos are working. The Screen turns Black and nothing happens. Tried with normal Stock Drivers and experimental drivers from Jesse Barnes, same result. Everything loads fine and normal. The last two lines of my XOrg.log are: (II) TRIDENT(0): Using 1279 scanlines of offscreen Memory for area's (II) TRIDENT(0): Using 12584960 bytes of offscreen Memory for linear (offset=0x3ff800)
Sorry... My Graphics Adapter is a Trident CyberBlade XPAi1
Same (or quite similar) bug here with a Toshiba 1800-100 and Trident Ai1 (for more info see the attached X org log and dmesg). Not-working Distributions tested: - Ubuntu 7.10 - Xorg 7.2 - Debian unstable - Xorg 7.3 - Fedora 7 - Xorg 7.2 (I think) Working distros: - Debian 4.0 - Xorg 7.1 - a lot of other distros with Xorg <= 7.1 Bug description: xorg starts correctly (according to the log) but the screen remains black. Ctrl + Alt + Backspace or Ctrl + Alt + Fx both don't work. Ctrl + Alt + Canc works and starts reboot process. Other reports: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-trident/+bug/154069 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=587668 Workaround (haven't tested yet but seems to work for other people): Add Option "NoDDC" in the "Device" section of xorg.conf Bugs probably related (or duplicates): https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3946 Is there a way to fix it upstream or should it be fixed manually from Xorg 7.2 on? Going to attach some logs (xorg.conf not present).
