Created attachment 24911 [details]
system description

This is the last kernel message:

[drm:i915_irq_emit] *ERROR* i915_irq_emit called without lock held, held 0 owner 00000000 d6453780

I can shut down by pressing the power button which bypasses X at this time; no other key works.

Attached are the relevant informations and log files.

This seems to be a duplicate of #19415, sort of.
Comment 2 Gordon Jin 2009-04-20 01:10:51 UTC
Can you try a newer kernel like 2.6.29.*?
I agree this is likely bug#19415.

Obviously, I have to do so, but I'm not happy with it. Shouldn't the
intel driver be `generic' to support older kernels too? For my video card,
the current state is very disappointing -- with my old SuSE 10.2 everything
has worked; upgrading to SuSE 11.1 (since 10.2 is no longer supported) worsened
it a lot, and the current git version is completely broken... Sigh.
