I see the first frame rendered, but the system is unusable after that. Works for me with the Mesa 7.7.1-1 packages from Debian. Can you try the upstream Git mesa_7_7_branch? Also, you may be able to get more info from the kernel with netconsole.
This is with a recent mesa (7.7-4ubuntu1) ... I'll give it a try with 7.8 from git soon, but in any event, nothing in userland should be able to hork the kernel this way... I'm having issues with netconsole.
