lspci -vv

If I disable KMS with the nomodeset kernel option the screen works fine, but X will not not work with the intel driver (no kernelmodesetting driver detected).
If I boot without the kernel option the screen blanks as soon as kms loads. I tried kernels with the modules compiled in, putting the modules into the initramfs, and just loading them late. I got the same results just at a different point in boot process.
The Hardware is a HP 8440p Laptop with Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller and display port. The VGA out doesnt have any output as well, but I could not test the display port yet.
I am using Archlinux with stock kernel 2.6.34-ARCH. I did try the xf86-video-intel drivers from the git repository and the linux2.6.35-rc3 kernel with the same results.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,

Tobias

dmesg with kernel option nomodeset

I will attach intel_gpu_dump and another dmesg later since I dont have another box to ssh into this one right now.

looks similar to bug#28224?
Comment 7 Wang Zhenyu 2010-06-17 19:45:26 UTC
Looks like the same eDP issue.

Could you attach "intel_reg_dumper" output in 'nomodeset' case and in kernel failure case?

Please test with recent linux-2.6 git tree, this should be fixed.

Everything is working fine in the linux26-git tree. Thank you.
