This patch fixes the problem for me and Stanislav confirmed that it fixes the problem for him as well: Stanislav: Yes, it fixes this problem in SuSE Linux 9.3. Thanks.
It would be nice if the change could be merged into the patch for bug 2676 as both should go into the stable branch, too...
