Created attachment 52509 [details] Bookmarks for a test When I try to open several prepared search pages simultaneously in my "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20110928 Firefox/7.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.4.1" I frequently get an error Message (see end of the report) instead of the search result for some of the pages. Steps to reproduce: 1. Created a bookmark entry for several Browser Tabs from attached "Bookmarksextract.html" 2. open group of Tabs for all listed pages together ("Open all in Tabs") so that several Browser Tabs open for all search results Expected: all search result listings available Actual: some Tabs only contain a Software Error message as below I see the same problem opening several Reports simultaneously. I have been using these queries for months, the problem came up after upgrade to Bugzilla 4. When I refresh/update the Tab the search result will appear. Software error: DBD::Pg::db do failed: ERROR: could not serialize access due to concurrent update [for Statement "DELETE FROM profile_search WHERE id = ?"] at Bugzilla/Search/Bugzilla::Search::Recent::create('Bugzilla::Search::Recent', 'HASH(0x3b14070)') called at Bugzilla/Search/Recent.pm line 75 Bugzilla::Search::Recent::create_placeholder('Bugzilla::Search::Recent') called at Bugzilla/CGI.pm line 450 Bugzilla::CGI::redirect_search_url('Bugzilla::CGI=HASH(0x38df080)') called at /srv/bugs.freedesktop.org/www/buglist.cgi line 84
This problem remains after fix for "Bug 42096 - Error message submitting LibreOffice bug report or adding comment" (not unexpectedly)
It's annoying
Most horrible Time is from 06:00 ... 09:00 UTC
It seems we have had some progress with "Bug 44441 - Gateway Time-out", but situations with this problem is worse than ever.
Has this improved recently? I've moved annarchy into a VM with some more resources, but am still looking at moving the backend to a faster machine and possibly also moving the bugzilla frontend to its own VM.
I did a quick test and still see many messages like Software error: DBD::Pg::db do failed: ERROR: could not serialize access due to concurrent update [for Statement "DELETE FROM profile_search WHERE id = ?"] at Bugzilla/Search/Recent.pm line 67 Bugzilla::Search::Recent::create('Bugzilla::Search::Recent', 'HASH(0x2df8fa8)') called at Bugzilla/Search/Recent.pm line 75 Bugzilla::Search::Recent::create_placeholder('Bugzilla::Search::Recent') called at Bugzilla/CGI.pm line 450 Bugzilla::CGI::redirect_search_url('Bugzilla::CGI=HASH(0x2a3a178)') called at /srv/bugs.freedesktop.org/www/buglist.cg Tis one for <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/buglist.cgi?chfieldto=Now&query_format=advanced&chfieldfrom=2012-02-29&list_id=48483&product=LibreOffice> This generally happens when I start several queries the same time, when I start a single query I only seldom see such a problem. Did you work on the machines today? For several hours I had no access.
Might be account / login related. I tried 3 times without being logged in and opened all queries simultaneously, no problem at all. Tried 3 times with a test account, always 11 query failed. Tried 3 times with my account, always most queries failed.
100% reproducible: logged in I get the error message, doing the queries simultaneously without being logged in works fine.
Ok, I think I know what the problem here is. Your bookmark includes 12 searches, while bugzilla by default only caches 10 of the latest searches, and it then runs into transaction semantics in postgres. I've bumped the max number to 20 now, can you see if you can still reproduce the problem?
When you are logged out, Bugzilla doesn't store your last X queries, which is why it doesn't fail in this case. I will check if I can reproduce upstream with PostgreSQL.

Results of comment 11 might partly have been caused by an other different issue, see "Bug 49133 - Valid query without result, only blank page shown". I will do some further research, soon.
Hopefully we've now solved this by just deprecating Bugzilla.
