Description Johnny_M 2012-01-24 05:21:03 UTC
When the attached PPS presentation (containing sound and some visual effects) is ended, by ESC key or "End presentation" in the context menu, Impress crashes due to an "unexpected error" - see error message screenshot attached (German).

Error reproduction:
- Open the attached presentation (double-click in Win explorer) --> Presentation starts
- Hit the ESC key or use the context menu to end the presentation --> Impress briefly changes to the presentation editing window and then closes showing a "Document Recovery" error message, due to an "unexpected error".

WinXP, 32 bit
Error also exists on the LibreOffice 3.4.5 release.

Sorry, I had to place the 5MB large presentation into a split 7-Zip archive, due to server upload file size limitation of 3MB.

Reproduced with

LOdev 3.5.0rc1
e40af8c-10029e3-615e522-88673a2-727f724
Ubuntu 10.04.3 x86
Linux 2.6.32-37-generic Russian UI

Changed platform to All.

Reproduced with LO 3.5.1 release on Win7 x64 SP1 with NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250M graphics card.

Please don't change the "Version" field - it is "the earliest LibreOffice version where the problem has been observed". See http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport_Details#Version.

LibO 3.5.1 release on WinXP SP3 32 bit (Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 3150 chipset) does seem to be able to show the slides properly: The slides themselves remain blank white, with only the moving visual effects images shown.

On Win7 with LO 3.6.4.3 (latest version), I don't reproduce this.

Could you give a try to LO 3.6.4.3 (or 3.5.7 if you've got to stay with 3.5.X version)? 3.5.1 is quite old. Also, you must know there won't be any new 3.5.X LO TDF version, 3.5.7 is last one.
Comment 10 Johnny_M 2012-12-30 03:56:52 UTC
Thanks for testing. I can't reproduce it with LO 3.6.4.3 either. So that the bug seems to have been solved in the meantime.

Only one side note: If one opens LO (i.e. LO itself without opening any file) before opening the (autostart) PPS presentation, the end of the presentation (using ESC key or context menu) will not only close the presentation, but also the LO window opened before. I'm not sure if that is a bug or wanted behavior, but it feels like the independently opened beforehand LO window should stay. I would consider this very minor though, and it does not occur when LO is opened with another document beforehand, instead of just empty LO - the document stays open after closing of the presentation.
Comment 11 Johnny_M 2012-12-30 04:22:00 UTC
Since the behavior described in the "side note" in my previous comment is not related to the PPS application attached to this bug (and has therefore nothing to do with this bug), I'm closing this bug as fixed.

Thank you for your feedback. Just 2 things:
1) Since there's no specific fix, I'll put WFM for status

2) the fact that LO closes when the pps ends is intentional I think
see fdo#https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47526, https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47526

However, not sure about what LO should do if previously opened.

Rainer: any idea about 2)?
