I think it would be great to have links in PDF files.

Of course, cairo does not support page numbers during creation process. 

But there are named links for internal navigation in the document. I think these could be implemented by cairo API.

Another type of links is a external http or e-mail link of the document.
I think a implementaiton of that wouldn't be very complicated.
