spacing to borders is inactive

Hi All,

LO:  3.5.4.2  Windows and Linux

Spacing to contents is inactive (grayed out). Would you please fix this?

I am setting this to "Major" as I have a customer who is blocked in her attempt to migrate all her business' operations manuals from Open Office. (OOo has been removed from her company computers. It is too buggy.)

To reproduce:

1) open Write, create a new documents.

2) go to Format, paragraph, borders.

3) observe the "Spacing to Contents" is inactive (greyed out). Also observe that the spacing value is set to 0.0, which is incorrect. The actual spacing is typically 0.5.

Many thanks,
-T

It seems this option is only enabled if a Border is actually displayed (by default, no Borders are displayed). If you click one of the other options under "line arrangement", the "spacing to borders" options are enabled.

I'm guessing this is by design. If so, there may be other ways to achieve what you want; perhaps by using a combination of margins and line spacing? (FYI: I am a very basic user of Writer)

This has actually been requested before;

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37033

A suggested workaround is to set a visible margin but then change the colour to white.

I am marking this report as a duplicate of the previous request.
