During some operations the grafic gets garbled. Ex: Everytime I bush the back button on firefox it is garbled on mouse-release. After I loose focus and returns its okay again. Ex2: Sound juicer. Resizing makes buttons look garbled. Ex3: Ubuntu Update-manager garbled selection, after scroll. Happens only once in a while. I an running a Ubuntu Dapper with latest updates on thinkpad T42 with Radeon 7500. Some say this might be Cairo related? Also filed bug on Ubuntu's launchpad which also contains screenshots of the problem. https://launchpad.net/bugs/38198
First of all, note that the xf86-video-ati release that came with X.Org 7.0 was quite buggy. Please try current xf86-video-ati git (ati-1-0-branch for X.Org 7.0) if you can. That said, please attach (as opposed to paste) the full config and log files. Also, do some of the options mentioned in the downstream bug reports make a difference? E.g. Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" Option "RenderAccel" "off"
Did Michaels suggestion help?
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" Option "RenderAccel" "off" Did not help anything. I think the radeon driver provided by Ubuntu is equal to version 6.5.8 of the radeon. I am not able to check out and compile by myself right now!

Does not enabling any or all of the options "AGPMode", "AGPFastWrite", "EnableDepthMoves" and "EnablePageFlip" fix this?
I've fixed this on the ati-1-0-branch, I haven't had time to do a proper fix, for main ati driver, but I might just stick the workaround in for now until someone codes a correct fix..
