all packages in Debian Etch (current testing) compiled against cairo now
fail to work in a VNC session - eg:

$ Error: Cairo does not yet support the requested image format:
        Depth: 8
        Alpha mask: 0x00000000
        Red   mask: 0x00000007
        Green mask: 0x00000038
        Blue  mask: 0x000000c0

I wouldn't rate it just an enhancement, but a quite serious bug: a whole lot of
packages link to lib{pango}cairo and no more work because of this lacking
format support.
