Someone came to my cube with a broken machine.  After a long winded debugging session we figured out that accountsservice wasn't handling him have duplicate entries in his passwd file very well (he had user and user_OLD with the same uid ).

Clearly that's a misconfiguration, but on the other hand we shouldn't prevent the whole system from coming up from that error either.
